Bring back the summer with a new style at home

It’s snowing outside, and we’ve got plenty of snow on the ground. I find it a bit cozy, since it makes it a bit lighter, now that it gets dark quite early. However, I can’t help myself from longing for summer, probably because we had a quite poor summer this year… Much rain, few hours with sunshine and not many warm days. So, what can I do about this? Not much really, the winter will come, and probably stay for months, whether I like it or not. I can, however, search for inspiration online, and I can decorate my home in a way that reminds me of warm summer days. Isn’t that a good idea?

So, what home decorating style makes me think of warm summer days? Actually several, but the one that came to my mind first, was the nautical beach style. I think it’s beautiful with the white and blue theme, and a good thing with this decor style is that it doesn’t have to be expensive to decorate the home. You can get beautiful accessories without paying a penny, and that’s great for all of us, who like to refresh the home every now and then.

How to get nautical accessories without having to pay

The nautical beach style is very popular, and it can become very expensive if you’re planning to buy all accessories in stylish interior shops. There are other ways to get your hands on unique and beautiful things though.

The first thing to do if you’d like to develop a unique beach style at home, is to take a stroll on the beach. Look for beautiful sea shells, which can be used for many different things. Place them on a table, in a pattern, with a candle holder in the middle, or place them on the mantel along with some nautical flags. There are so many ways to decorate with sea shells.

There’s other things to look for on your stroll as well. Try to find old wooden pieces, they can be used for several purposes as well. You can write something on them, or put hooks in it and use it as a holder for clothes. You can also paint a suitable picture on it and use it as a unique painting. The great thing is that you don’t even have to make something out of it, you can put it on the wall, just as it is. That will give a nautical touch to the room as well.

Another way to save some money is to sew your own pillow cases and curtains. It’s actually quite easy, not as all as advanced as sewing your own clothes. Use blue and white and get the perfect beach style at home, without spending your entire budget.

I haven’t made any changes at home yet, but I’ve got plenty of ideas, and I will definitely consider to change a few things here soon. I love the french country style, but I’d love to get a summer touch at home, now when the winter is approaching so quickly.

Inspiring ways to use our signs

It’s quite fun you know, to surf the net and find plenty of beautiful pictures, posted by people who owns one or several signs from Ramsign. I get so inspired by their creativity, their ideas and their ways to decorate with enamel signs.

Let’s have a look at a few photos which I really like! I found the first one at Nordingården, a blog that I’ve been reading for ages. It’s a number sign, but it’s not added to the wall yet, it’s placed along with a flower pot and a few other accessories, and it looks great as another accessory. I think it’s so clever to take an item into the home, and use it in a totally different way than the obvious. Not only signs, other things can be used as well, such as old wooden pieces that you find on the beach for example. Instead of just leaving it there, why not bringing it home and make a beautiful wooden sign, with some nice text written on it? My point is; think outside the box, it will make the home decoration a lot more fun!

Next picture is borrowed from hverdagslykkelise and it’s a name sign. To write the names of everyone in the family and place it on the front door gives the home a more personal impression, don’t you think? It tells every visitor who lives in the house, and it makes it easier for the mail man as well.

I found the third photo over at Landlige Hjem. It’s a name sign, but it’s another way to think outside the box. Instead of placing the name on the sign, she decided to add a street name from Paris. It’s so right in time, now when the french country style is so popular, and it looks great as an interior accesory on the shelf. I love the idea and I find it really inspiring.

Can you come up with more ideas of how to use enamel signs? I will think about it and get back to you with more ideas, and of course links to inspiring blogs!

Meet the Blogger in Stockholm

I’ve mentioned before that I’ve been in touch with many wonderful bloggers through the years, during my time as online marketing assistant for Ramsign. I haven’t had the privilege to meet them/you in personal though, but since I’m a blogger myself now, I might get the chance to meet some of you in Stockholm in February? I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but the fascinating event Meet the blogger, will take place in Stockholm next year, and the ticket sale will start in a few days, on October 29th.

I love Stockholm, I actually lived there for about a year when I was younger, and it’s a beautiful town. Amazing views, great shopping, always close to a cozy café and plenty of museums and cultural attractions. I don’t know about you, but I think this is the perfect place for a blogger event, and I’ll do my very best to get a ticket to Meet the Blogger Stockholm. Will you be there? It would be so great to meet you in person, and I hope to meet at least some of you there in February 🙂

I’ve got no clue about the schedule for the event yet, but I’m still sad that I wasn’t able to attend Meet the Blogger Amsterdam in June, and the schedule was great then, so I’m pretty sure it’ll be just as exciting this time. I look forward to listen to great speakers and attend inspiring workshops. It’ll be a great event, I’m sure!

Add some luxury with an address plaque

Have you ever waited for a delivery that never arrived? Did you wonder where it ended up? Or have your visitors told you that it’s difficult to find your home? The reason might be lack of signs. A house number is great, of course, but in some cases an adress plaque can make it a whole lot easier for the post man, as well as for visitors. An address plaque is bigger than a number sign, and it shows the entire adress. It’s more visible and can be seen from the road, a big help for sure!

I love our address plaques, they are beautiful and classic and I think they add a touch of luxury to any home where they’re placed. They can be a great help in many situations, when emergency staff needs to find your home, when you’re waiting for a parcel to come, when you expect guests and when you’re planning to have a flea market at home. There are so many situations when an address plaque could make your life a lot easier. And, not to forget, it can also make your home more classic and beautiful.

Our address plaques comes in various styles, sizes and shapes. It’s almost impossible to choose a favourite among them, but my personal favourite is the oval Metropolitan address plaque. I love the classic, french style and I would love to place this sign on my house, as soon as I’ve found the home of my dreams.

Our signs are always durable and easy to look after. They require very little from the owner, as they can be cleaned very easily. The secret behind the durable exterior and the beautiful appearance of these signs lies in the manufacturing process that is used to create them. The pattern that is used to create the sign is present throughout the entire thickness of the sign, which means the paint isn’t applied on the surface only.

In order to create a Ramsign address plaque, a pattern is hand stencilled on a metal background. Then, powdered glass that has been coloured with lead-free oxides is applied. The colours can’t fade since it’s present throughout the entire enamel. Once the powdered glass has been applied by hand, the piece is fired. This melts the glass and causes it to form the smooth, durable exterior that our signs are famous for.

This method of creating enamel signs by hand is uncommon nowadays. We choose to use the traditional method of making enamel signs simply because it produces the most durable product and gives us the most control over the finished product. The design can be customized to meet your needs as well as the style of the building where it will be placed, and that means everyone can get a sign, suitable for their home.

Do you like our address plaques? Which one is your favourite among them? Don’t forget that they can be placed indoors as well. I’d happily put an address plaque on the side table beside the bed in the guest room for example. I think it would make the guest room look welcoming and stylish and it would add some luxury to the room, which would most likely be appreciated by guests who came to stay a few days. Don’t you think?

Rowen & Wren – My personal favourites

First of all, I’m so very happy that so many of you have entered the give-away already. Are you one of those who haven’t entered yet? Make sure to do it, I can assure you that it’s worth the effort 🙂 Those candles have a wonderful scent and the pots are amazing, just like the potholders!

Well, another thing that I find amazing is the items which can be found over at Rowen & Wren. I’ve looked at their collections many times and I decided that it was time to tell you all about it. Have you seen their things? So beautiful and so fantastic, I just love them!

It’s really hard for me to choose between all their beautiful pieces, since I love them all, but here are some of my favourites.

The stone urn is incredible. It has the vintage touch that I love so much and it would be a gem in any garden, don’t you agree? Imagine to put it in front of the porch in the summer, with blooming flowers and green plants in it. It would make me happy for sure, and probably all my guests as well.

The knitted throw is another of my favourites. I love to knit, and I know how much time and how much effort I would have to put in a throw like this, if I was to knit it myself. It’s a piece of art for sure and I think it would be a charming addition to put over a rocking chair in the home, to add a welcoming and old fashioned touch.

Have a look at their collection. Do you find any favourites among the incredible things?
