Blog of the week #2

Another week has reached its end, and that happened fast! I know I told you I would publish the “blog of the week-post” on Saturdays, but this Saturday seemed to come so quickly, so I actually needed one more day to make up my mind. There are so many great blogs out there, and I really want to recommend the ones that I like the most.

Well, it’s still weekend, so I hope you have time for some reading, because the blog that I’ve chosen is really worth a visit!

Blog of the Week is…

Happy Interior Blog

and it’s written by Igor, who is a terrific blogger in every way. He travels a lot, and if you visit his blog you will be able to joing him on his journeys as he posts the most fabulous photos on the blog. The photo above is his of course, and it’s from Mykonos, a greek island that he visited not so long ago.

As I said before, there are plenty of great blogs out there, but this one is really something special! It’s frequently updated, every single post is interesting, the content seems fresh and unique, and the photos are great! Igor writes all posts in a great way, and his blog is filled with colours, trends and interior. If I was to choose one thing that makes this blog so special, it would be the fact that it makes you happy, and that’s the best thing you can actually say about a blog, isn’t it?

If I could give you some advice…. It would definitely be to read Happy Interior Blog right away!

Colours and classics

It’s easy to forget how beautiful colours can be. It’s way too easy to think that white is the only stylish and beautiful colour, but then I see a lovely photo online, that reminds me how beautiful it can be with colours if they’re used wisely.

It’s Saturday tomorrow, which means it’s time for “Blog of the Week”. The blog that I’ll mention now would definitely deserve a place there any time, but I don’t want to save it for a Saturday. I just want to show you a photo in order to give you an idea of how much the right colour choice really means.

Monica, the blogger behind Tyrifryd, is a Norwegian interior blogger with great taste. She’proved that over and over again, by decorating her home and showing the results on her blog. Last year she decorated and renovated her front porch, which can be seen in the photo above (also borrowed from Tyrifryd). I just love the result! I love the combination of grey and blue, the white accessories like flowers and vases, the black contrasts, and I love the Highlander name sign on the front door. White and black is the perfect choice for this entrance door, and it adds even more classic beauty to an already beautiful place.

I really like this front porch, and one big reason is that Monica used colours in such a great way, to give it a happy, yet stylish look. Do you like it?

Blog of the week #1

I’ve got a new idea and I hope you’ll enjoy it. My plan is to write up a new kind of blog post every week, with a special theme. These posts will be published once every week, and my plan is to publish these posts on weekends, as I hope many of you will be able to benefit from it then. So, what’s the purpose and the theme? I’ve decided to publish a “blog of the week” every week, so that you can find some new inspiration during the weekend. Maybe you’ll just read it and enjoy the texts and the photos, but you may also be able to find some real good inspiration for your own home and garden. You never know, and it honestly doesn’t matter. I just hope it will give you some great blog joy, and maybe some new contacts in Bloglandia as well. Enjoy 🙂

My plan is also to develop this project further, as soon as I’ve tried it a few times. In the future I hope to be able to publish a short interview with the selected blogger, and maybe a guest post from time to time. This first week I will just write a little about a terrific blog though, and I hope you’ll find the time to visit the blog if you haven’t done it before. I promise you won’t regret it!

The selected blog this week is a blog that I think is well updated, well written with interesting and engaging posts, and with a bunch of beautiful photos. The blogger is also very devoted to her blog, and she runs a lot of projects, all just as good as the blog. I’m a big fan of her online magazine, which goes under the name 91 Magazine (which you should make sure to read as well).

The name of the blog is Patchwork Harmony, and it’s owned by Caroline Rowland. I warmly recommend it as I know from experience that you can always find a new and engaging post there, whenever you decide to drop by. You can also be certain that the posts will never make you dissapointed, and there are always a bunch of fresh photos to get inspired by. I’ve followed this blog for ages, and I’m still as impressed as I was the first time I came by to read it. Do you have a couple of minutes to spare? Then it’s time for you to visit Patchwork Harmony and read a few posts. I’m sure you’ll love it!

Oh… Don’t forget to stop by tomorrow! A new give-away is coming up!

A street sign for your home?

Some of you may be quite new here, while others has been around for months, or even a year or more. I guess you may have noticed that I write about some of our signs from time to time, and I have a purpose with doing that you know… I’m hoping to give you some ideas and inspiration, so that you can make the most out of our truly beautiful signs. I hope you find it as fun to read as I do to write it. I really think it’s fun to come up with ideas and share them with you guys! Some of the ideas may even be from you, as I get inspired by signs ordered by our customers. It’s among the things I appreciate the most actually.

Well, it’s time again, which I think you may have guessed already. I do have a new idea for you to consider. You have probably visited our website already, right? Then you’ve probably seen that we offer house number signs, address plaques, name plates and door signs. That’s true of course, but did you know that you have other alternatives as well? Alternatives that can’t be found on our website, but that can be custom made just for you? You can actually order almost any type of sign, and we’ll do our best to make it exactly like you want it to be.

An example… Look at the sign above… A street sign. No, we didn’t make it, but we can make something similar! And it obviously doesn’t have to be black. We can just as well create a street sign in blue and white (if you like the old French street signs), white and black, green and white and so on. It’s your choice, we’ll listen to your requests! And the measures? Well, that’s up to you as well! We can make bigger signs than the ones  you can see on our website, so use your imagination and give us a suggestion. We’ll let you know if it’s possible for us to make it, and I’m quite sure we can help you!

Maybe you wonder why you need a street sign, when you don’t own a complete street, but think again! Wouldn’t it be nice to place a French looking street sign on the porch, beside an old chair and an old wooden box filled with flowers? Or maybe put up a black and white street sign on a stone wall, to make it even more visible? I sure think so!

Do you like the idea? Maybe you get some own thoughts on how to use a custom made street sign? Let’s hear all about it!

The perfect sideboard for my home

As I’ve mentioned before (probably like a thousand times), we moved to a chain-house earlier this year, and I’m really happy about it. I’m still not finished with the home decorating thing though, and since this is a lot more spacious than our last apartment we have to buy lots of new furniture, something that I really enjoy.

One could think that I should have done all these purchases by now, but I don’t like to rush things, not when it comes to home decorating. I want it to feel completely right, and I want to choose furniture that I really like, not just something that I can stand.

One of the things I’ve been looking for is a sideboard, or maybe more like a chest of drawers. Imagine my happiness when I found a special offer today, in a shop close to where I live… I totally love the sideboard shown above, and as I live approx. 5 minutes away from the shop (which by the way is named Jysk), I’ve decided to buy it. It will look amazingly good below my wall shelf, where I by the way have a lovely Highlander sign with the words ”Home is where your heart is”. I promise to show you photos after I’ve purchased the item and placed it on its new spot in our home. I think it will make a lovely addition when I place a vase with fresh flowers on top of it, as well as some beautiful and stylish candle holders. What do you think?

Do you like this piece of furniture by the way? Or is it just me?
